Citrix Enhances MetaFrame for UNIX Operating Systems
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), a leader in application serving and portal software and services, today announced enhancements to the Citrix(R) MetaFrame(R) for UNIX(R) product family to further extend the virtual workplace. These new features extend the performance, usability and security of MetaFrame 1.1 for UNIX Operating Systems, providing users secure access to UNIX technology-based applications from virtually any device, over any connection - wired, wireless or Web. Citrix MetaFrame 1.1 for UNIX, Feature Release 1, builds on the already powerful Citrix MetaFrame software designed for various UNIX technology-based operating systems, including Sun Microsystems, Inc.'s Solaris(TM) Operating Environment, Hewlett-Packard Company's HP-UX(R), and IBM Corporation's AIX(R), and now offers significant enhancements to the performance, usability and management capabilities. New features of Citrix MetaFrame for UNIX Operating Systems include support for the latest version of Citrix NFuse(TM) application portal software, SSL Encryption, the latest compression and persistent caching techniques, as well as the ability to connect to applications using large resolutions and up to 16 million colors. "Citrix software is a valuable part of HP's strategy to provide customers with a cost-effective way to deploy reliable, server-based computing solutions," said Nigel Ball, vice president and general manager, HP e-Services Partner Division. "Integrating Citrix NFuse 1.6 portal application software on the HP-UX operating system enables access to applications via a single Web portal interface - further enhancing our powerful UNIX solution." "We have worked closely with our customers to help ensure this Feature Release provides the services and reliability needed to optimize our UNIX customers' environments," said Matt Dircks, director of product management, Citrix. "We're committed to continually improving the features and functionality of MetaFrame for UNIX in order to reach more of the enterprise marketplace with the benefits of server-based computing." "The increased display resolution and color depths in MetaFrame 1.1 for UNIX enable our clients to use high-resolution CAD and engineering tools from any location without sacrificing application performance or consuming additional bandwidth," stated Rollin Carlblom, director of Internet operations, Idea Center. "Moreover, because resolution restrictions no longer exist, we can now publish a variety of applications and offer our clients a broader range of features and functionality." Citrix MetaFrame for UNIX, Feature Release 1, is immediately available. Current Subscription Advantage members are entitled to this Feature Release at no cost. Non-members can purchase the Feature Release from UNIX-authorized members of the more than 7,200 members of the Citrix Solutions Network(TM) (CSN). For more information visit www.citrix.com
