Oracle Application Server 10g Earns Best Single Node Result for x86 Based System
Oracle Is the Best in Test for x-86 Class of Servers in SPECjAppServer2004 Benchmark: Oracle today announced that Oracle Application Server 10g, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, together with Oracle Database 10g Release 2 on Linux, and HP BladeSystem server blades powered by AMD Opteron processors set a best in class single node result with the SPECjAppServer2004 industry standard benchmark by delivering the highest performance for x86 based systems. This achievement builds on Oracle's commitment to providing customers with the highest performing and most scalable Java Application Server.
Oracle Application Server coupled with Oracle Database 10g, achieved a stellar performance result of 1,000.37 JOPS@Standard (jAppServer Operations Per Second). Both were running on an HP ProLiant BL685c with 4 Dual-Core AMD Opteron 2.8 GHz processors on Linux. "Oracle's consistent record-breaking performance in Java Application Server benchmarks demonstrates that customers can rely on Oracle Application Server 10g to meet the stringent scalability needs of enterprise class Java Applications," said Juan Loaiza, senior vice president, Systems Technology, Oracle. "The results of Oracle's SPECjAppServer 2004 benchmark, running on AMD Opteron processors, clearly demonstrate our joint development collaboration efforts are producing excellent value for our customers." Over the past five years, Oracle has submitted record-setting application server benchmarks on a broad range of hardware and software platforms. Oracle is the performance and price/performance leader in multiple SPECjAppServer 2001 and SPECjAppServer2002 benchmark categories and also holds the world records for best performance and price/performance in the ECperf benchmark of J2EE application servers reported in July 2002. SPECjAppServer2004 is a client/server benchmark for measuring the performance of a representative J2EE application and each of the components that make up the application environment, including hardware, application server software, JVM software, database software, JDBC drivers, and the system network. The workload is an application that emulates information flow among an automotive dealership, manufacturing, supply chain management, and an order/inventory system.
