Free One Day Developer Conference Focuses On Open Source and Web Technologies,Solutions and Business Models: Sun Microsystems, today sponsored its new CommunityOne event at Moscone Center in San Francisco. CommunityOne is a free, one-day event designed for open source and web developers to gain detailed technical information on free and open source projects. "More and more developers are participating in open source communities and software projects online. CommunityOne provides a unique opportunity for these developers to meet in person, share their ideas and opinions, learn about the latest technology components, and collaborate with their peers," said Julian Edwards, CommunityOne event manager at Sun. CommunityOne will begin with a general session by Tim O'Reilly, founder and CEO of O'Reilly Media, Inc. O'Reilly will share his insights into the origin and challenges of open source, as well as offer his opinions on some emerging trends to watch. O'Reilly will then be joined by Rich Green, executive vice president of Software at Sun, Ian Murdock, chief operating system platform strategist at Sun and Tim Bray, director of web technologies at Sun, for a discussion on the impact of participation and a question and answer session with CommunityOne attendees. For the rest of the day, CommunityOne attendees will have the opportunity to attend sessions in various tracks, including: NetBeans Software, OpenSolaris Project, GlassFish Project, OpenJDK and the Mobile & Embedded Community, as well as interact with other participants to exchange ideas and best practices.
