Principal Architect at eBay To Speak at SOA World 2007 in New York
Sastry Malladi, currently a Principal Architect at eBay, driving the SOA architecture for the eBay ecommerce platform, has joined the 2007 Speaker Faculty for the 11th international SOAWorld Conference & Expo 2007. He will give a session on "SOA Deployment Challenges in the Real World" in The Roosevelt Hotel, June 25-27, 2007. "Service Oriented Architecture concepts have been around for a while and all of the benefits and promises it offers look good on paper," Malladi notes. "The complexity of implementing and deploying SOA in large enterprises is, however, often overlooked." The problems get further exacerbated, Malladi explains, when trying to migrate from existing monolithic web applications and its infrastructure to a SOA model, rather than starting fresh from the ground up. In his SOAWorld 2007 session, after a brief recap of the SOA model and its benefits, he will discuss some of the real challenges in moving to the SOA model in a large enterprise. "These challenges are technical as well as operational, says Malladi. His session, he adds, will then cover how his team is addressing some of these challenges in building the SOA platform at eBay, without getting into eBay specifics. The session will conclude with some key takeaway points to keep in mind when considering a SOA model. A technology evangelist with over 18 years of experience in architecting and building scalable distributed computing systems, in the areas of Application Servers, Java/J2EE/Web Services, SOA and Grid Computing, Malladi was co-founder and CTO of OpenGridSolutions before he joined eBay. Before that he was a founding member and Architect at SpikeSource, and an architect at Oracle.
