transtec AG to Offer New Product Family Based on Zetera
transtec AG, a leading European provider of custom-tailored IT and storage solutions, and Zetera Corporation, a developer of breakthrough network storage technology, announced a partnership to deliver a unique and differentiated line of storage solutions utilizing Zetera’s patent-pending Z-SAN Storage-over-IP (SoIP) technology. transtec will manufacture and distribute the new family of network storage solutions, targeting the needs of the SMB market. Available in Europe, transtec expects to ship its first Zetera-enabled products in mid December, 2006. The new transtec storage products will be offered directly to business customers as well as sold exclusively to transtec’s reseller network under the brand name Lynx.
“transtec is well known in the European market for delivering robust solutions that don’t sacrifice on customer value and quality, and we are pleased to be working with such a recognized leader,” said Zetera CEO Chuck Cortright. “Our exciting relationship with transtec signifies continued market adoption of Z-SAN technology through the delivery of solutions that solve real business problems and offer better performance, scalability, ease-of-use and cost.” Unlike other storage architectures, Z-SAN technology simultaneously optimizes the four fundamental factors that drive the success of a network storage system – scalability, performance, reliability and cost. Z-SAN technology offers network storage that is simple enough to be configured and managed by non-technical users and cuts costs by eliminating expensive hardware. “transtec has built its business and reputation by delivering solutions to our customers that focus on user value, quality and reliability, and Zetera’s technology delivers on all of these factors, with the added benefit of not requiring a specialist to be on staff,” noted Ertu Uysal, transtec’s CEO. “By partnering with Zetera to produce a family of products based on their Z-SAN technology, we have a uniquely broad opportunity to strengthen our product portfolio with an entry-level product that positions us to aggressively grow our storage solutions business.” Products based on Z-SAN technology are simple to install, configure and manage. In addition, they offer full virtualization, delivering storage and data sharing across multiple devices in different locations, without the burden of complex and expensive virtualization software. Zetera-enabled storage can reside anywhere on the network, making it available to be shared, spanned with other network storage, or mirrored to any location. In fact, 2006 has marked several significant milestones in the adoption of Z-SAN, as evidenced by the recent announcement that more than 100,000 SAN devices based on Zetera technology have shipped worldwide since their debut in September 2005; as well as the building of a 1.4 petabyte storage array for a research project at MIT which uses the same low cost Z-SAN enclosures that are being sold to the SMB market.
