NCSA Position Notice, National Center for Supercomputing Applications, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Research Programmer -- Overview: The National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has one Research Programmer position available. The primary function of this position is to design and develop Java applications for the Automated Learning Group (ALG). This includes developing client/server side applications, supporting tools and desktop applications. This position requires the ability to be creative, innovative and to work efficiently on both an independent and team basis. This position requires the ability to communicate with researches and address their problems with the development of applications in machine learning, data mining and visual analytics. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. Alternate degree fields will be considered/accepted if accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on nature and depth of experience as it relates to current NCSA technologies). * At least 3 years of Java programming experience with demonstrable ability to design and implement complex software systems. * At least 1 year experience working with relational databases and tools. This is an academic professional position at NCSA and is a 12-month, 100%-time appointment with regular University benefits. Salary commensurate with experience.
