ISC2006 Conference Offering Two-Day Visitor Pass to Europe’s Largest HPC Exhibit

The 2006 International Supercomputer Conference, to be held June 27-30 at the International Congress Center Dresden, is now offering a two-day pass giving viewers access to Europe’s largest exhibition of high performance computing and networking vendors and research organizations. The visitor pass, which is valid on Thursday, June 29, and Friday, June 30, also allows the holder to attend the popular “Hot Seat” sessions featuring representatives from leading vendors and the vendor track presentations. The cost for the pass is 250 Euros. The pass can be purchased online in advance. Passes may also be purchased on site at the registration desk in the Congress Center Dresden. “For anyone interested in seeing what the world’s leading HPC vendors have to offer—and doing it under one roof so direct comparisons can be made—this is the perfect opportunity,” said ISC2006 Conference Chairman Prof. Hans Werner Meuer of the University of Mannheim. “And this year, we have increased the number of exhibitors by almost 50 percent over 2005, making ISC2006 truly the leading HPC event in Europe.” This year, 74 of the world's leading computing and networking vendors and research centers will exhibit at ISC. The current list of exhibitors can be found at: its Web site. The vendor tracks are a new component of the conference program to be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 29, and provide an opportunity for conference participants to hear focused presentations from vendors. For details, go to: its Web site. The “Hot Seat Sessions” are an afternoon of 17 short, to-the-point presentations by experts from HPC centers and providers of hardware, software, interconnects and solutions in Europe, Asia and North America. Each speaker has only 10 minutes to highlight the latest information about current developments, new products and strategies. Then, a specially selected panel of “inquisitors” follows up by posing two probing questions to the speaker. The session will be held Thursday afternoon, June 29. A limited amount of exhibit space is still available. For details, go to: its Web site. ISC2006 will be held in Dresden, which celebrates its 800th anniversary in 2006. Designated as one of Germany’s “Cities of Science,” Dresden has a long history of technical innovation and is home to a growing number of high technology industries and research institutions.
