Voltaire Opens New Office in Germany

Voltaire, the worldwide leader in grid backbone solutions, announced that it has opened a new office in Eltville, Germany. The office will focus on sales and marketing of Voltaire's InfiniBand-based switching solutions and software that serve as the "backbone" for high performance clusters and grids. Voltaire has been selling solutions to the European markets for more than two years and has experienced a dramatic increase in demand in the German market from both research/academia and commercial businesses. Voltaire has many German customers and partners including DLR, HLRS, and many other customers from the aerospace, automotive and higher education industries. Voltaire's German office is led by Mr. Juergen Windler. Prior to Voltaire, Mr. Windler was the Managing Director for the German operations in MRV Communications GmbH and held responsibility for all sales activity in Germany. Other experience includes sales management positions with Optical Access and NBase Europe. "The German office is the latest step in Voltaire's continued global expansion," said John Asher, vice president of EMEA sales. "The German office strengthens our position in German-speaking countries and will substantially improve the care we offer to our German customers. HLRS, a center for High Performance Computing in Stuttgart, Germany, is currently using Voltaire Grid Director switching solutions on a 200-node cluster. HLRS provides support in the use of leading-edge supercomputer technology and applications to HPC users from the R&D organizations of leading companies in the automotive and other industries. Asaf Somekh, director of marketing, will give a presentation entitled, "Voltaire Grid Backbone - Production InfiniBand Deployment in Vertical Markets" on Tuesday, April 4 at 15:00h and Gali Zisman, product manager, will present during a panel discussion in the OpenIB/RDMA track on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 10:45h.
