Premium Service Now Available for Massively’s High-Performance BLAST Users

Massively Parallel Technologies, Inc. (Massively), a provider of on-demand high-performance computing, announced today that BioTech Virtual Power Center (VPC) customers can now upload and run high-performance BLAST searches against their own databases with full intellectual property protection. Recognizing the need to support custom databases as well as a wide range of standard databases, users can now securely upload their proprietary database(s) to the BioTech VPC. A private account ensures that not only is the database secure, but only the authorized user will have visibility and access to the database. In addition, customers requiring even greater levels of security and intellectual property protection will soon be able to take advantage of a local database encryption option. “Some of the greatest value and insights come from the creation and use of custom databases,” stated Massively’s CTO, Kevin Howard. “Our recent announcement (3/21/06) of user selectable performance and new ability to upload and search private databases in a secure manner are just two examples of how the BioTech VPC makes easy-to-use, interactive, on-demand supercomputing a reality.” Database upload is available now by going directly to the BioTech VPC website – www.mptbiotech.com. During the introductory period, this service and associated storage space will be provided free of charge. Massively’s BioTech VPC delivers the benefits of high-performance supercomputing without the costs and complexities associated with users owning and managing their own compute clusters. Using a standard web browser with Internet access, users can take advantage of Massively’s BioTech VPC without investing in any additional hardware or software.
