Cognos today announced that one of its customers, HypoVereinsbank AG (HVB), the second largest private-sector bank in Germany, has been named as a finalist for the Gartner BI Excellence Awards for its BI implementation. The Gartner BI Excellence Awards highlight world-class Business Intelligence initiatives. The Gartner Business Intelligence analyst research team chose HVB as a finalist for its "Active Credit Portfolio Management (ACPM)" implementation, leveraging Cognos' business intelligence software. With Cognos, HVB was able to develop a new business model to more effectively manage corporate loan portfolios based on market pricing models and credit derivatives. As a result, HVB is able to avoid large risks, diversify risk, optimize the risk/return profile, and generate additional income. The Business Intelligence Summit 2006 will take place from February 6-8, 2006, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. HypoVereinsbank AG will present its case study at the BI Excellence Awards session on February 7, 2006, from 9-10 a.m. GMT. Two other award finalists will also present case studies and audience members will choose the winning case study. The winner of the BI Excellence Awards will be announced at a ceremony on February 7 at 6:30 p.m. GMT.
