Liquid Computing Selects Neterion's Xframe 10 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

Liquid Computing Corp., a developer of a new class of scalable servers for high performance computing applications, announced today it will embed Neterion's Xframe 10 Gigabit Ethernet network adapter into LiquidIQ, the industry's first Interconnect Driven Server (IDS). The integration will enable Liquid Computing's new server architecture to optimize I/O performance and eliminate bandwidth bottlenecks. Liquid Computing customers require uncompromised communications bandwidth and I/O to carry out high performance computing (HPC) functions across a wide range of industries such as scientific research and development, upstream energy exploration and biosciences research. Scaling out network bandwidth is critical for these applications. The combination of LiquidIQ and Xframe will deliver uncompromising computing performance. "Several early users of LiquidIQ have expressed a keen interest in dynamically allocating large scale I/O throughput across our system," said Mike Kemp, CTO of Liquid Computing. "The only cost-effective way to bring terabits of I/O capacity was to embed a high performance, dependable 10 GbE network interface card directly into the LiquidIQ I/O module." When Neterion's Xframe adapter is combined with Liquid Computing's unique architecture, the result is scalable bandwidth, lower latency and higher I/O performance. The fact that Xframe has recorded a number of record-breaking performance demonstrations was another important factor in its being selected as the 10 GbE partner. "Liquid Computing's Interconnect Driven Server architecture and Xframe's 10 GbE adapters are an ideal combination for end users who are seeking a means to deploy HPC resources in 'real time' based on the application they are running," said Dave Zabrowski, president and CEO of Neterion. "And a further benefit is the fact that this solution does not require a proprietary network, but can run over a company's existing infrastructure." LiquidIQ's performance functionality is a direct result of the combination of its IDS technology. The IQInterconnect and associated I/O Modules can be provisioned to achieve a range of I/O bandwidth that has the capability to grow to 200 Gb/s per LiquidIQ chassis or 2.4 Tb/s of I/O across the entire system. This bandwidth comes with built in quality of service control that guarantees the availability of I/O resources to specific applications and processes.
