STRATEGY X Responds To US President Bush's Proclamation to Help Communities

STRATEGY X, homeland security specialists, responds to US President Bush's speech in regards to the Katrina disaster in the Gulf Coast States and other city and state level emergency response planning deficiencies. Evacuation and response planning has been receiving a great deal of scrutiny in the media, the President of the United States, George W. Bush, has now ordered, "The Department Of Homeland Security To Conduct An Immediate Review Of Preparedness In Every Major American City." The President stated, "Our cities must have clear and up-to-date plans for responding to natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or terrorist attack. We must have plans to evacuate large numbers of people in an emergency and to provide food, water, and security as needed. In a time of terror threats and weapons of mass destruction, the danger is greater than a fault line or flood plain. Emergency planning is a national security priority." Strategy X, Inc. Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis division (MSA) has the expertise, the tools and the ability to assist every city and state in developing, testing, exercising, training and rehearsing their specific response plans and emergency response plans in this specific area and more. Additionally, once flaws within plans are discovered modifications can be designed and modeled to insure the plan is as effective as possible. Modeling and simulation can be used to assist planners, designers, and decision makers. The basic definition of modeling and simulation is to develop a model of any object and place it in a computer simulation, replicating an expected environment and measuring the response of the model in the simulation. It has been used in several areas in both the military and civil sector. Joseph J. Doyle, Chief Technical Officer and Director of the MSA division commented, "First I would like to say that our hearts go out to the people directly affected by this tragedy and Strategy X, Inc. is not attempting to point a finger at anybody for response flaws, we just want to offer our expertise in solving some of theses and other critical problems. There are a lot of dedicated professionals, local, state, and federal, from around the US and the world for that matter doing a great job in assisting the victims of this tragedy. We all should be very thankful to them for that. This event as well as others can be modeled and response plan scrutinized by experts before such an occurrence. If the plans don't meet required criteria, then the plan can be changed and measured again. This can continue until the plan is right, modeling and simulation is very cost effective with low operational impact." Clifford A. Lewis, President, and CEO commented, "Very straight forward message from our President and fortunately we have the tools and expertise to assist planners and decision makers in developing the best plan possible for their situation. We can assist states and cities develop, model and if necessary remodel adjusted plans. Modeling and simulation can make communities and authorities much more knowledgeable of the difficulties associated with responding to a disaster such as Katrina. As ordered by the President, we are in the process of formulating proposals for cities and states to use our services, to develop, enhance and train for better response and evacuation plans."
