OPNET Demonstrates Breakthrough Capabilities

OPNET Technologies, a leading provider of management software for networks and applications, is showcasing its latest network and application analysis solutions at the Defence Systems & Equipment International (DSEi) conference in London, UK. OPNET introduced numerous technology breakthroughs last month at OPNETWORK 2005, its annual technology conference in Washington D.C., with over 1,800 attendees from 30 nations. DSEi, the world's largest and fastest growing international tri-service defence exhibition, is the first large public forum outside of the United States for these demonstrations. OPNET is the leading provider of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) network modelling solutions, proven at thousands of customer sites. For the defence community, OPNET supports a broad spectrum of projects related to research, planning, operations, training and exercises, including: Network-Centric Operations and Warfare, Bowman Tactical Communications, joint and coalition C4ISR, interagency and international interoperability assessments, Transformational Communications (Satellite), WIN-T, FCS, JTRS, and NETWARS. Network analysis capabilities include: -- High Performance Discrete Event Simulations (DES) of wired/wireless communications scenarios including: new "SMART MAC" for accelerating wireless simulations, fully parallel simulation engine, faster propagation modelling based on the new TIREM4 algorithm (co-developed with Alion Science & Technology), 3D communications visualization (co-developed with MAK Technologies), and large-scale mobile ad-hoc simulations. -- Developmental and interoperability testing capabilities, leveraging system-in-the-loop interfaces that connect live hardware or software to OPNET simulations. -- Enhanced communications modelling library including the industry's most complete IPv6 modeling suite (compatible with MANET routing) -- OPNET's new 11.5 version of NetDoctor, IT Sentinel, and SP Sentinel for automated network configuration integrity and security auditing. -- Enhanced OPNET NETCOP(TM) solution, providing a 24x7 common operational picture of the production network, aggregated from multiple existing management systems and integrated with OPNET's planning solutions. Application analysis capabilities include: -- A new Advanced Console module for OPNET's ACE solution, which rapidly pinpoints the root cause of end-to-end application performance problems. The effects of network, system, and application issues are quantified, recommendations offered, and predictive testing provided to validate alternative solutions to problems. -- OPNET's Panorama(TM) 3.0 product release, which provides real-time server-based analytics for J2EE/.NET applications. Panorama monitors thousands of application metrics to resolve production performance issues and to test performance prior to deployment. "Our analytics automate communications problem solving for the warfighter, and also provide realistic communications effects simulation. Both are key enablers for effective transformation to next generation tactical wireless systems, net-centric enterprise services, and service-oriented architectures," stated OPNET Vice President of Marketing & Business Development, Todd Kaloudis. Commenting on the new OPNET propagation modelling enhancements, Charles Goldblum, Vice President for Corporate Development at Alion stated, "Alion is proud to continue their development of the TIREM algorithm and be able to evolve the technology to support the needs of today's military network research and operational needs. The combination of Alion's unsurpassed expertise with wireless communications analysis and OPNET's best-in-class network modeling and simulation technology has created a solution vital to the success of next-generation military networks. TIREMv4 represents a leap forward in simulation technology to reduce the runtime burden for analysis of large scale wireless networks."
