Cognos Exhibits Outstanding Growth in BI

Cognos announced it has achieved outstanding growth in both the worldwide BI and CPM markets. These findings are contained in new reports released from IDC. Cognos exhibited impressive growth and market share gains in 2004, particularly in BI, in which Cognos was the highest market share gainer according to the research. Moreover, Cognos is the only vendor to show more than 20% growth in both markets -- with revenue growth of 22.9% in BI, and 21.3% in BPM/Finance. "Cognos has demonstrated solid marketplace momentum with its business intelligence and performance management solutions. Organizations are placing a premium on solutions that help them analyze business performance in order to drive greater efficiencies and opportunity," said Dan Vesset, research director, analytics and data warehousing software, IDC. "It is extremely rare to see a software company achieve such strong growth in both the software tools and applications markets simultaneously." According to IDC's report, "Clearly Cognos is committed to its performance management vision and has a strong foothold in this market driven predominantly by continued momentum of Cognos Planning, which continues to be the number 1 area of growth in the BPM space. As organizations expand BPM from finance-driven initiatives out into operations, Cognos' planning, scorecarding, and BI capabilities together provide a robust platform for enterprise wide performance management." The Cognos Performance Management System enables organizational agility and improves the decision-making process for organizations by connecting people and goals across operations and management functions with right-time, actionable information. It aligns technology through Performance Solutions and the best-in-class platform capabilities of reporting, analysis, planning and scorecarding, with best practices and a partner ecosystem, enabling customers to unlock performance for sustainable competitive advantage. "Our strong growth in BI and CPM clearly demonstrates that the market is responding to our vision, innovative products, and strong focus on customer success," said Dave Laverty, senior vice president, global marketing, Cognos. "The Cognos commitment to deliver demonstrable enterprise value is continuing to drive our momentum in the marketplace. We have a passion to see that our customers succeed."
