Education, Outreach and Training Coordinator

Job Description: The Education, Outreach, and Training (EOT) Coordinator at TACC will be responsible for all aspects of TACC's EOT activities with additional duties in coordinating strategies and managing collaborative projects with an EOT component. The coordinator will facilitate information flows across multiple constituents and conduct activities that demonstrate TACC's commitment to broadening the understanding of computational science and engineering and advanced computing to diverse groups of educators and learners. The coordinator is also responsible for increasing the participation of under-represented groups in computer science, engineering, and information technology through development and execution of EOT programs. The EOT Coordinator will design and implement a comprehensive education, outreach, and training program to support the mission and objectives of the center. The coordinator acts as liaison between TACC and U.T. Austin and outside training agencies, organizations and societies and works with these groups to develop new training and development opportunities and to keep abreast of new developments in the EOT field. The EOT Coordinator will actively assist in securing external funding for outreach, education and training. Specific activities of the EOT coordinator may include: * providing and organizing EOT programs consistent with mission and resources of TACC; * serving as EOT liaison for federal, state, and local governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and investigators and faculty at the University and other academic centers; * assisting with drafting grant applications and grant submission; * supervising the conduct of training under external grants and contracts; * preparing required reports and correspondence for funders and principal investigators; * monitoring outreach compliance with federal agency grants (e.g.: NSF broader impact criterion); * developing and training specialists to conduct training/education programs; * reviewing training courses, techniques and materials to determine effectiveness; * conducting training research and pilot programs; * maintaining accurate records of training activities; * monitoring timeline and objectives for grant and related projects for on-time projects that meet our objectives; * determining when and if program modifications are needed; * developing outreach materials (annual reports, newsletters, presentations, etc.); * overseeing special events related to EOT activities; * creating and overseeing content for the EOT section of the TACC website and any ancillary websites; and * identifying and cultivating media contacts, writing and issuing press releases, and distributing reports and other materials. The candidate will be appointed to the UT Austin title of Program Coordinator. Required Qualifications: * bachelor's degree in education, training, or related discipline or three to five years related experience; * two or more years of education, outreach and training experience in a research center or high performance computing organization; * demonstrated expertise in working in collaborative, interdisciplinary projects; * excellent interpersonal communication skills and professional demeanor; * ability to work independently and as a team member and staff supervisor; and * motivated, enthusiastic, proactive, and positive personality. Preferred Qualifications: * master's degree in education, training, or related discipline; * working knowledge of computational sciences and advanced computing technologies; * experience managing a grant-funded project; and * history of publishing results of outreach activities.
