NYU Presents a Panel Discussion: CrossRoads: Animating for Art + Industry

New York University's Paul McGhee Division (SCPS/NYU) Digital Communications and Media Department presents a panel discussion CrossRoads: Animating for Art + Industry, Monday, November 22, 2004, 6-8 pm at the NYU Kimmel Center, 60 Washington Square South, Room 808. Animating for Art + Industry revolves around 3D animation as a creative tool in different professional fields. Working methods of the individual and the large team are examined, as are transitions and inspirations between the artistic and commercial worlds. A Q&A will follow the formal presentations. *Jeremy Gardiner* is Professor of Digital Arts at the London College of Music and Media, and a graduate from the Royal College of Art in London. He is a former Harkness Fellow of the Media Lab at MIT. Since 1982 he has incorporated digital media in his working process. He has exhibited worldwide and has received a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship and an honorary mention for his work from the Priz Ars Electronica. Recent projects include the Virtual Gallery of the British National Childrens Art Competition launched at Tate Modern, London. His virtual artwork 'Purbeck Light Years' was awarded the Peterborough Art Prize. *Isaac V. Kerlow* is an artist and pioneer in the use of digital technology in visual creation. Between 1997 and 2004 he led the efforts across The Walt Disney Company related to digital production with new media, including 3D computer animation and 24P HD digital cinematography. Prior to that Isaac led for two years the group of digital artists and animators at Disney Interactive that developed and produced CD-ROM, on-line, and platform games. Before 1995 Isaac spent a decade at Pratt Institute in New York where he was a tenured professor and the founding chairman of the Department of Computer Graphics and Interactive Media. Kerlow is also the author of several books, including the third edition / The Art of 3D Computer Animation and Effects/ published by Wiley.
