NEC Joins Intel Model School Program

NEC Solutions (America), Inc. Visual Systems Division announced it has been selected to participate in the Intel Model School Program. The Intel Model School Program is designed to provide a foundation so that students can become effective leaders in the future. In addition, the program helps school districts integrate technology into the classroom and take advantage of learning via the Internet, assessing technology infrastructure in member districts and providing potential solutions. "One of the greatest challenges facing education is how to harness technology despite constrained budgets. Through our relationships with leading manufacturers and service providers, we are able to help," said Terry Smithson, Education Strategist, Intel Corporation. The program aims to improve the quality of the education experience for both teachers and students using leading edge technology. It links school districts to hardware vendors, software developers and service providers, delivering the tools and resources school districts need to support technology use in the classroom. "Schools really need to keep up with modern technology to ensure students get the best education possible," said Ron Gillies, senior vice president and general manager for the Visual Systems Division of NEC Solutions America. "NEC is working with the Intel Model School Program and its leading education partners to ensure today's top schools produce students who are knowledgeable not only in reading and math, but in the ever-evolving world of technology as well."
