Oracle is the leader in business analytics software

Oracle today announced that analyst firm International Data Corporation (IDC) has determined that Oracle is the leading vendor (based on 2003 revenues) for the Business Analytics software market. According to IDC's recent report, "Worldwide Business Analytics Software 2004-2008 Forecast and 2003 Vendor Share," Oracle is the leader for business analytics software with 12.3 percent market share and revenues of $1.6 billion for 2003. Oracle's 9.6 percent growth rate from 2002 to 2003 exceeded the market growth rate by 1.1 percent. The combination of its size and strong year-over-year revenue growth in business analytics also give Oracle the highest momentum of any vendor in the market, according to IDC. Overall, IDC estimates that the business analytics market grew by 8.5 percent in 2003 and to $13.4 billion in revenues. IDC's defines the business analytics software market as comprising tools and applications for tracking, storing, analyzing, modeling, and presenting data in supporting or automating decision-making processes.
