NetEffect Names John Hagerman VP of Marketing and Business Development

NetEffect Inc., a leader in developing high-performance networking silicon, today announced that John Hagerman has been named vice president of marketing and business development. NetEffect is a leader in developing next-generation multi-Gigabit Ethernet solutions for data center applications. These solutions are redefining the data center by enabling a single unified fabric supporting networking, clustering, and storage. Using industry standard iWARP extenstions to Ethernet, NetEffect is adding high performance features that were until now relegated to expensive proprietary networks. Prior to joining NetEffect, Hagerman was responsible for 3Com's LAN Connectivity Product Management team, which directs 3Com's wired Network Interface Card businesses for the mobile, desktop and server markets. This team was responsible for defining and implementing a number of strategic alliances with leading OEM vendors, ODM manufacturers, and key networking technology providers. The NIC products were sold worldwide in both the OEM and the branded distribution channels. In addition, Hagerman's team managed network edge security products, including embedded firewall products. Hagerman has held a wide range of senior management positions, including vice president of business development at Maxtor Corporation, a leading hard disk drive company. During his tenure he was responsible for marketing of the mobile storage product line, worldwide marketing, strategic planning, and business development. Hagerman was a key member of the management team that drove Maxtor's turnaround. The company, previously a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyundai Electronics America, successfully launched an IPO in July 1998 with a secondary offering in February 1999. During Hagerman's tenure, Maxtor's revenue and unit shipments increased dramatically. "John Hagerman is uniquely qualified to lead NetEffect's marketing and business development," said Rick Maule, president and CEO of NetEffect. "He not only has extensive experience in the storage and networking industries, but he also has strong relationships with leading OEMs. John has a proven track record in helping companies rapidly achieve revenue and profitability, and he is the ideal person to lead NetEffect's marketing and business development." "NetEffect's engineering team is well ahead of competitors in developing silicon that uses next-generation iWARP RDMA Ethernet," said John Hagerman, vice president of marketing and business development for NetEffect. "NetEffect has a significant opportunity to emerge as the leader in delivering silicon for multi-gigabit Ethernet applications, and I'm looking forward to rolling out our first silicon solutions later this year."
