Topspin Collaborates with openMosix

The openMosix Project, today announced that Topspin Communications, the leader in InfiniBand, will spearhead a collaboration to port openMosix to the AMD Opteron(tm) platform. This collaboration will seek to significantly expand already impressive openMosix-Topspin high performance computing (HPC) capabilities currently supported on Intel 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. Topspin Collaborates with openMosix to Deliver High Performance Open Source Clustering Solution for Opteron(tm). The openMosix Project, today announced that Topspin Communications, the leader in InfiniBand, will spearhead a collaboration to port openMosix to the AMD Opteron(tm) platform. This collaboration will seek to significantly expand already impressive openMosix-Topspin high performance computing (HPC) capabilities currently supported on Intel 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. openMosix is a Linux kernel extension for single-system image (SSI) clustering that allows building a cluster from ordinary networked computers. Applications not designed explicitly for clustering benefit by working in a clustered environment without any modification. Topspin's InfiniBand-based switched computing solution delivers a superior infrastructure for clustering, enhancing performance for the openMosix Open Source cluster platform. With up to 10Gbps of interconnect bandwidth per server at near 5 microsecond latency, Topspin delivers significant performance gains for openMosix clusters. Topspin's InfiniBand price-performance is optimally placed for openMosix' installed base and new installations. The integrated Topspin ease of use, advanced network mapping functionality, and Boot over InfiniBand capabilities allows cluster administrators to build fast, secure, and easy to manage clusters.
