Penguin Computing Announces Shipments of High-Performance Scalable Clusters

Penguin Computing today announced the immediate availability of both high performance Linux cluster systems and the first 64-bit release of Scyld Beowulf, the leading second generation Linux cluster operating system, at ClusterWorld Expo. These new platforms dramatically enhance the processing power available to enterprise customers requiring highly robust and scalable cluster and server platforms based on Linux. -- Scyld Software, a subsidiary of Penguin Computing, is now shipping the 29-series release of Scyld Beowulf, the first 64-bit implementation of the Linux cluster operating system. 64-bit versions of Scyld Beowulf are available now for AMD(R) Opteron and will be available for Intel(R) Itanium 2 during the 2nd quarter of 2004. Release 29 is also available now for IA-32 platforms. -- Penguin Computing announced the immediate availability of fully configured Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron clusters featuring Scyld Beowulf Release 29, with availability of Intel Itanium 2 clusters scheduled for late Q2 2004. -- Penguin Computing also announced support for InfiniBand high-performance networking and a reseller agreement with InfiniCon Systems, a leading supplier of InfiniBand technology for the high-performance marketplace. Scyld Software has also partnered with InfiniCon to provide support for InfiniBand in a forthcoming high-performance interconnect update to Release 29 of Scyld Beowulf. Penguin Computing's Opteron and Itanium clusters featuring Scyld Beowulf will provide cluster customers with the advanced processing power and memory addressing advantages of 64-bit hardware platforms.
