IDC Study: transtec Ranks Among The Top 10

transtec has consolidated its position among the top 10 server manufacturers in Western Europe. According to a current study conducted by IDC, a market analyst, the IT group comes in at no. 9 after illustrious names such as Dell, IBM and Fujitsu Siemens. transtec generated 56 percent growth in the server sector during the fourth quarter of 2003. It represents the second highest increase recorded among the top 10 companies and is a figure surpassed only by Toshiba. This goes to show that last year’s shift in focus of the core business to server and cluster solutions is proving successful. “With our individual, flexible solutions and products driven by know-how, we’ll stay on course for success in 2004”, reports Dieter Weisshaar, the transtec CEO, optimistically for the future. In the server sector, transtec sees HA, HPC cluster and blade servers taking on greater significance for server consolidation projects. They will be in the forefront because they are particularly easy to manage and offer high CPU performance in a minimum of space. In the company’s view a further highlight will be the return of central server and cluster solutions with terminal emulations at the front end. The latest server strategies will be among the topics taking centre stage at the transtec technology talk (http://www.transtec.co.uk/), which the IT system manufacturer will be holding at nine European venues from 30 January to 1 March 2004.
