Gridcore AB, a leading system integrator of Linux based high performance computing solutions and Chalmers University today announced the availability of a new compute resource for academic users in Sweden. The resource is Sweden's largest constructed around AMD Quad Opteron systems and has been delivered by Gridcore for the joint computational resource at Chalmers University - “Unix Intensive Calculations at Chalmers” (UNICC) . The core of the system is built around 15 quad systems using AMD Opteron 848 processors. Along with three dual CPU systems equipped with AMD Opteron 248 processors for compilation and shorter jobs, the resource consists of a total of 66 processors for running serial, shared memory and distributed parallel processing jobs.
