Linux Networx Clusterworx 3.0 Provides Total Cluster Management

Linux Networx announced today the new features of Clusterworx® 3.0, making it the most complete cluster management software available that provides total cluster management from one interface. Clusterworx simplifies cluster management so organizations can run more jobs throughout the life of the cluster, significantly increasing the overall productivity of the cluster system. Linux clusters are composed of multiple computers, or nodes, that are networked together through a high-speed network to create supercomputer-like performance. Cluster management tools are essential for monitoring and controlling every aspect of the system, which helps save time and lowers a cluster’s total cost of ownership. “Computational clusters are one of the fastest growing components of the technical computing market. The independent nature of cluster nodes leads to requirements for users to manage each node more or less independently,” said Christopher Willard, research vice president for IDC. “This management complexity increases the total cost to operate a cluster, and limits the number of organizations that can effectively make use of the technology. Continued growth in this market is thus dependent in large part on the availability and effectives of cluster management tool suites, such as Clusterworx” New features of Clusterworx allow organizations to: •Maximize cluster performance with comprehensive system monitoring •Efficiently utilize cluster resources with integrated workload management •Securely update cluster systems with version controlled image management •Quickly update cluster systems with fast multicast provisioning "Clusterworx is a vital tool in managing our cluster system that helps save time and keeps everything running smoothly,” said Brad Duncan, research scientist at Automotive Aerodynamics. “With Clusterworx 3.0, we are especially excited about version controlled image management to ensure easier kernel and software upgrades so we can maximize our cluster investment." Clusterworx works in conjunction with the Linux Networx ICE Box™ cluster appliance to deliver remote power control and direct access to each node within the cluster. Clusterworx 3.0 will be available starting December 6, 2003. More information on Clusterworx can be found at http://www.linuxnetworx.com/clusterworx/.
