InfraStruXure Chosen for the U.S. Transportation Security Administration

WEST KINGSTON, R.I. -- American Power Conversion (NASDAQ:APCC) (APC) announced today that its InfraStruXure architecture is playing a key role in Unisys Corporation's information technology (IT) infrastructure build-out for the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA). In a multi-year task order under the Department of Transportation's Information Technology Omnibus Procurement contract, Unisys is implementing IT and telecommunication services -- including hardware and software services, helpdesk, network/security operations and business process re-engineering services -- to the TSA. APC's InfraStruXure is providing the network-critical physical infrastructure (NCPI) helping to ensure availability of the Transportation Security Administration's networking backbone. "InfraStruXure is an ideal solution for a dynamic project such as the one Unisys is undertaking for the TSA," said Ed Bednarcik, vice president, global sales at APC. "The scalability and modularity of InfraStruXure allows for easy and efficient implementation of comprehensive physical infrastructure. We are delighted to be playing an important role in ensuring the availability of the highly critical systems being installed by Unisys." "To meet the high demands of this project, we needed to identify strong partners able to provide highly reliable offerings," explained Tom Conaway, Unisys managing partner, homeland security. "Additionally, the networks supporting the TSA must meet the highest requirements for availability. APC and its InfraStruXure systems are an ideal choice to satisfy these vital demands." Unisys has begun implementation of these systems and has installed InfraStruXure systems at various locations in the United States.
