Ottawa, Canada – GridIron Software announced that former Cognos Chief Operating Officer Terry Hall has been appointed to the company’s board of directors and assumes the position of board chairman. “GridIron has a unique and innovative software technology and has assembled an impressive and talented team,” said Mr. Hall. “GridIron is clearly poised to become the leader in the emerging field of distributed grid computing. I’m very excited about contributing to the success of this highly entrepreneurial and promising young company as chairman of the board.” “GridIron’s top priority is generating sales and maintaining operational excellence through a time of rapid growth,” said Steve Forde, GridIron co-founder, President and Chief Technical Officer. “Terry’s integral role in establishing Cognos as the world leader in its field and in achieving the company’s strong corporate performance will be invaluable to GridIron. In particular, his leadership in global sales and operations will facilitate similar market dominance for GridIron in distributed grid computing.” After many years of contributing to the company’s success as a key senior executive, Mr. Hall announced his retirement from Cognos as Chief Operating Officer in April 2002. He began his tenure within the company managing Canadian operations before assuming a senior position with the corporate marketing organization. After heading global sales operations for Cognos in Europe and the Asia/Pacific region, Mr. Hall returned to North America in 1993 to head the company’s worldwide sales as Sr. VP of Worldwide Field Operations. He was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 1999. Mr. Hall holds a Master of Statistics degree from the University of Waterloo.
