SALT LAKE CITY -- Linux NetworX today announced that it is partnering with HP to expand each company's Linux cluster supercomputing solution offering. As part of the agreement, HP will now offer Linux NetworX ClusterWorX(R) software as a cluster supercomputing management tool and Linux NetworX will offer HP Itanium 2-based systems running Linux to customers wanting 64-bit capability for meeting their high-performance technical computing needs. Linux NetworX will continue to offer its turnkey Evolocity(R) Linux cluster solutions. The agreement strengthens the cluster offerings for both organizations, falling in line with a best-of-breed approach popular with customers in the high performance computing (HPC) industry. HP is the hardware vendor with the most systems on the Top500 supercomputer list, while Linux NetworX and HP have both designed and built clusters that rank among the ten fastest supercomputers in the world. "By offering the leading Linux NetworX ClusterWorX software in conjunction with our powerful Itanium 2-based systems and industry-standard HP ProLiant server line, HP helps simplify and reduce cost of ownership to our customers," said Judy Chavis, worldwide Linux director, HP Industry Standard Servers. "HP selected the ClusterWorX software to further expand our portfolio of offerings so customers may choose the best solution to meet their high-performance technical computing needs." Linux clustering is a method of linking multiple computers together to form a unified and very powerful computing system. Linux NetworX designs clustering solutions for use in HPC and high availability (HA) applications. HP and Linux NetworX have both designed and built multiple TeraFLOP Linux clusters, systems that are capable of performing trillions of calculations per second. "This agreement with HP will allow Linux NetworX to offer a leading 64-bit solution to our customers and further the distribution of our ClusterWorX software," said Stephen Hill, president and CEO of Linux NetworX.
