EDS' Terry Milholland Again Named to InfoWorld's List of Most Influential CTOs

PLANO, Texas-- For the second straight year, EDS Chief Information and Chief Technology Officer Terry Milholland has been named to the 2002 InfoWorld Media Group's "25 Most Influential CTOs" -- an exemplary roster of outstanding IT executives whose innovative efforts continue to drive business success despite today's challenging economic environment. Milholland, also recognized as one of the Top 25 most influential CTOs in the inaugural 2001 listing, is responsible for establishing EDS' policies and architectures to incorporate technological innovations into its products and services. He also oversees the global engineering and support services EDS deploys internally and in the services it takes to market. "Terry has made innovation and service excellence daily habits at EDS," Chairman and CEO Dick Brown said. "His ability to deploy technology, creatively and flexibly, in support of business strategy is key among the attributes Terry instills throughout our global enterprise. His understanding of technology's use in driving business results is fundamental to achieving operational success for EDS and our many clients." As CIO, Milholland is responsible for aligning EDS' global internal information technology resources with its objectives. As champion of the company's innovation and thought leadership initiatives, he has been instrumental in revitalizing the EDS Fellows Program and launching an aggressive patent application process. "The CTO's role has grown in importance in the overall corporate infrastructure," said Eve Epstein, executive editor for CTO Media, InfoWorld Media Group. "CTOs are being held more accountable for the bottom line and return on investment. The CTOs being honored by InfoWorld stand out as relentless innovators, strategists and visionary thought leaders who continue to look to the future despite current economic challenges." Milholland, who was born and raised in Baltimore, Md., earned a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Maryland and a master's degree in computer science from George Washington University. He also attended the Management Development Program at the Harvard School of Business. InfoWorld's top editors, using rankings from its CTO Advisory Council, chose the honorees. Their profiles appear in the magazine's December 9 issue. Selection criteria included: background and experience; demonstrated leadership and proven influence in their organization and the broader CTO community during the economic downturn; the size of the nominee's organization; and technology innovations or implementations led by the CTO.
