International forestry symposium presents statistics, IT tools

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech’s Department of Forestry and the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) will present a "Symposium on Statistics and Information Technology in Forestry" September 8-12 in Blacksburg. Professors, graduate students, and forestry professionals will present their research work and advancements to the international forestry world. The purpose of the conference is to provide a scientific forum for the exchange of information related to the advancement of statistics and information technology in the practice of forestry. The forum will include oral and poster presentations, as well as computer demonstrations of recent advances relevant to the symposium theme. Sessions will be held at Virginia Tech's Donaldson Brown Hotel and Conference Center on the Blacksburg campus. Computer demonstrations will be held in Virginia Tech’s Advanced Communications and Technology Center. Registration fee is $350.
