BALTIMORE, MD -- This year's SC2002 Conference will offer two days dedicated to students, with more than 60 undergraduate and graduate students participating in the SC2002 Student Days Program on Wednesday, Nov. 20 and Thursday, Nov. 21. The SC2002 Education Committee added Students Days to its education program to give students a first-hand opportunity to hear about high performance computing and opportunities within the field. The students will meet with educators, researchers, administrators, and potential employers. "The Student Days Program will provide undergraduate and graduate students with a unique chance to explore career opportunities in the high performance computing and communications field. The Student Days and the SC2002 conference experience combine to be a 'can't miss' opportunity for any student planning to work in the field," said Scott Lathrop, SC2002 Education Program Co-Chair. Participants in the SC2002 Student Days Program will learn about industrial and government research internships as well as professional mentoring programs. They will receive tips from experts on interviewing techniques, preparing for the computerized GREs, and applying for graduate school, scholarships and more. Students will also be able to participate in all the technical seminars, presentations and exhibits available at SC. The SC2002 Education Student Days Organizational committee is now accepting applications to participate in SC2002 Student Days. Participating students will have their noontime meals covered and the two-day registration fee waived. Travel expenses and lodging are the student's responsibility. Space is available for the student events on a first-come, first-served basis; a waiting list will be established. SC2002, the annual high performance networking and computing conference, brings together scientists, engineers, systems administrators, programmers, and managers to share ideas and glimpse the future of high performance networking and computing, data analysis and management, visualization, and computational modeling.
