TeraCross, Mindspeed offer Terabit Packet Switching Chipset Solution

CAMPBELL, CA -- TeraCross today announced that it will work with Mindspeed Technologies(TM), the Internet infrastructure business of Conexant Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:CNXT), to deliver a scalable packet switching chipset solution. The collaborative design addresses systems ranging from 160Gb/s to 1.28Tb/s capacity, offering high throughput, low latency and a very low chip count. The interoperability between TeraCross' breakthrough GLIMPS(TM) scheduling engines and Mindspeed's family of 144 x144 crosspoint switches will allow networking OEMs to avoid lengthy design cycles to introduce high-performance systems for Metro, Core and SAN segments. TeraCross GLIMPS(TM) breakthrough scheduling technology offers very low packet latencies, robust to the statistical nature of the traffic patterns, in addition to inherent QoS provisioning enabling guaranteed differentiated services at the packet switching level. The Mindspeed family of 144x144 crosspoint switches offers state-of-the-art integration and capacity. The use of eight Mindspeed 144x144 crosspoint switches and one TeraCross GLIMPS(TM) scheduler device yields a complete 1.28Tb switching solution supporting up to 128 OC-192c ports at full line rate. "TeraCross' application of Mindspeed's highest density crosspoint switches is an indication of the flexibility and performance of this product family," said Babak Nabili, director of marketing for Mindspeed. "Besides applications in high-speed, high-capacity routers and switches, our crosspoint switches have wide acceptance in many applications, including optical cross connects, DWDM systems, backplane switching, and SAN switches." "In addition to our existing iScale high-performance switch fabric offering, this collaboration extends our market coverage to a larger number of applications," said Michelle Zoncick, director of marketing at Mindspeed. "The two solutions create a comprehensive portfolio of switch fabric solutions, offering our customers the flexibility in architecture and throughput specific to their applications." "TeraCross is pleased to build on the relationship we have with Mindspeed by complementing their latest crosspoint offering, which is the most suitable device for high-speed switching applications." stated Kurt Busch, vice president of marketing for TeraCross. "Networking systems designers can now benefit from an integrated switch fabric chipset that offers both high performance and low chip count. This collaborative effort enables Metro, Core and SAN customers a truly best-of-class solution for their switching needs." For more information visit www.teracross.com.
