MONTEREY, CA -- The InfiniBand(R) Trade Association (IBTA) today announced that Banderacom, Mellanox Technologies and QLogic Corporation (Nasdaq:QLGC), have been elected as sponsoring members of the Trade Association. The three companies join current sponsoring member companies: 3Com, Adaptec, Agilent, Brocade, EMC, Fujitsu-Siemens, Hitachi, Lucent Technologies, NEC and Nortel Networks. "The three new sponsor members are leading developers of InfiniBand fabric components," said Tom Macdonald, co-chair of the Steering Committee of the InfiniBand Trade Association and General Manager, Advanced Components Division, Intel Corporation. "As the InfiniBand architecture industry moves forward from technology development to fabric delivery, companies like Banderacom, Mellanox, and QLogic will provide essential ingredients to InfiniBand architecture enabled solutions. We welcome their participation as sponsor members." "Banderacom, Mellanox and QLogic have been important contributors to the InfiniBand Trade Association and development of the InfiniBand specifications," said Tom Bradicich, co-Chair of the Steering Committee of the InfiniBand Trade Association and Director of xSeries Server Architecture and Technology, IBM. "With each of their focus on InfiniBand architecture based silicon delivery they represent companies focused at the foundation of InfiniBand fabric development. We enthusiastically embrace them as sponsor members." The InfiniBand Trade Association's Steering Committee is responsible for the election of sponsoring members. The seven Steering Committee companies are Compaq, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, Microsoft and Sun Microsystems. All three companies have long been innovators in InfiniBand architecture development. Banderacom is an Austin, Texas-based InfiniBand architecture focused start-up focused on delivery of InfiniBand silicon components based on I-Bandit technology. Mellanox is providing InfiniBridge(TM) and InfiniScale(TM) semiconductors that enable InfiniBand technology switches, host and target channel adapters for Internet and Enterprise Data Centers. QLogic a leader in I/O and end-to-end storage network infrastructure, recently expanded its product line with the industry's first InfiniBand switch and the first InfiniBand I/O module, designed to connect Fibre Channel storage networks to InfiniBand-capable servers. The announcement of the three new sponsoring members comes as the InfiniBand Trade Association prepares to hold its fifth InfiniBand Solutions Conference (IBSC), April 9-11 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco. The multi-company sponsored conference is expected to feature a solutions focused agenda including a full-day of training for IT managers interested in InfiniBand Architecture. In addition, a day of panels hosted by industry experts and featuring panelists from every segment of the InfiniBand development and user communities will highlight much of the advances taking place in the development community. Over thirty member companies are also expected to exhibit their InfiniBand product development plans in the event's showcase arena. Started in August 1999, the InfiniBand Trade Association is made up of over 180 companies from every segment of the industry. The most recent version of the InfiniBand specifications, 1.0.a was made available in June 2001. This specification is publicly available for purchase and download from the Trade Association Website: www.infinibandta.org. The InfiniBand Trade Association is comprised of eight special workgroups, each with its own charter and area of expertise. The workgroups include: Marketing, Technical, Applications, Compliance and Interoperability, ElectroMechanical, Link, Management, and Software.
