HP Announces UNIX Benchmarks on HP Superdome and Entry-level Servers

PALO ALTO, CA -- Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HWP) today announced UNIX(R) benchmark results detailing the outstanding performance and value HP servers running Oracle(R) databases and applications deliver to customers. The results include the following: -- The world's fastest 3-tier SAP R/3 Assemble-To-Order (ATO) Standard Application benchmark running on the HP Superdome server, HP-UX 11i, Oracle9i Database and the HP Surestore Disk Array XP512; -- The world's first multi-system set of Oracle Applications Standard Benchmarks release 11i for 2- and 4-node systems running on the HP Server rp5470, HP-UX 11i, Oracle9i R Real Application Clusters Database and HP Surestore Disk Array FC60. World's Fastest SAP R/3 ATO Standard Application Three-tier Benchmark Continuing to showcase outstanding performance across multiple benchmarks with the HP Superdome server, HP announced the world's fastest SAP R/3 ATO three-tier benchmark with a result of 130,570 fully processed assembly orders per hour. The SAP ATO benchmark represents one of SAP's most demanding and challenging benchmarks and is designed to represent the real-world demands of supply chain management and manufacturing installations. The HP Superdome server result more than doubles IBM's highest published result for this benchmark category, demonstrating Superdome's superior performance in supply chain management applications. Superdome's fast PA-8700 processors and outstanding memory latency, HP-UX 11i and Oracle9i scalability, and the high speed of the HP Surestore Disk Array XP 512 were contributing factors to this record-setting result. World's First Multi-systems Oracle Applications Standard Benchmark Release 11i Showcasing almost perfect, multi-system linear scalability with Oracle 9i Real Application Clusters, HP also announced today the results of the world's first multi-systems Oracle Applications Standard Benchmark 11i running on the HP Server rp5470. A result of 2,296 users was achieved on a 2-node cluster of rp5470 servers and a result of 4,368 was achieved on a 4-node cluster of rp5470 servers. The near doubling of the number of users from 2,296 to 4,368 with an average response time of 1.16 and 1.25 seconds, respectively, is a clear demonstration of the multi-system scalability of Oracle 9i Real Application Clusters on HP systems. The superior I/O subsystem on the HP Server rp5470 and the power of HP's Hyper Messaging Protocol -- a high-performance, low-latency protocol in HP-UX 11i -- is designed to accelerate data transfer in Oracle9i Real Application Clusters and other clustered environments.
