COSTA MESA, CA -- Emulex Corporation (NASDAQ: EMLX), a leading supplier of storage networking host bus adapters (HBAs), announced today that a new study by IDC states the Emulex family of LightPulse HBAs play an important role in cost savings to storage area network (SAN) customers. In a white paper, entitled "Measuring the HBAs Role in SAN Management", IDC finds companies using Emulex as their primary HBA supplier for SANs experienced 27 percent greater productivity for storage management personnel, managed 24 percent more Terabytes per employee and achieved 49.2 hours of additional system availability per year. In the white paper, IDC states that the set of capabilities provided by Emulex's HBAs, including firmware upgradeability and hardware-independent driver architecture, which allow end users to upgrade features without replacing hardware, help to extend the life of the HBA and ultimately reduce costs associated with replacement purchases.
