Intel's Barrett Named New Semiconductor Industry Association Chairman

SAN JOSE, CA -- The Board of Directors of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) yesterday elected Dr. Craig Barrett, president and CEO of Intel Corporation, as the SIA Board Chairman and Gregory Williams, president and CEO of Intersil Communications, as the SIA Vice Chairman for 2002. "In the coming year, the SIA will be focused on areas critical to the industry's success and growth such as environmental, health and safety issues, securing world markets for open and fair trade, and continued effort to increase federal funding for basic research and development in math and science," noted George Scalise, SIA president.
