Intel Announces a Broad Range of New Server-Related Products

SANTA CLARA, CA -- Intel Corporation today announced several new server "building block" products -- including boards, chassis, and other server components -- designed for OEM system builders and product integrators. "This is a significant launch for Intel and our customers, with new additions across the entire product line," said Kirk Skaugen, general manager of Intel's Enterprise Platform & Services Division. "Our strategy is to enable integrators and OEMs of all sizes with a breadth of server building block products which allow them to focus on their added value in terms of affordability, unique designs and services." At the heart of today's announcement are seven server board and server chassis products for a wide range of computing environments. The Intel(R) Server Board SCB2, Intel(R) Server Chassis SR1200, and Intel(R) Server Chassis SR2200 are optimized for high density, rack-mount server environments. Server Board SCB2-based platforms can be integrated into OEM server product offerings to meet a variety of Internet applications, including clustered database, firewall, streaming media, and e-mail servers (see attached glossary for technical descriptions and usage detail). This new product line is built around the Intel(R) Pentium(R) III processor with 512-KB cache. The Intel(R) Server Board SDS2, Intel(R) Server Board SAI2, and Intel(R) Server Chassis SC5100, also built around the Intel Pentium III processor with 512-KB cache, are optimized for general purpose computing environments. The Server Board SDS2 is targeted at small- to medium-sized workgroup environments utilizing e-mail servers, proxy/caching servers, Web servers, and database servers. The Server Board SAI2 provides small businesses with a great price/performance solution for their file/print, intranet Web server, and terminal server computing needs. The Intel Server Board S815BM1 is available today for a 1U (1.75" height) chassis configuration. This product provides value-conscious businesses with a solution to their Web hosting, firewall, and Domain Name Systems (DNS) requirements. Additional server management, storage, and networking products announced today include the first IPMI 1.5 server management stack implementation via the Intel(R) Server Management version 3.5, as well as the Intel(R) RAID Controller SRCMR, Intel(R) RAID Controller SRCU32, and the Intel(R) PRO/1000 XT Server Adapter. These products are designed to improve I/O performance and data reliability in a variety of computing configurations. With a server built on Intel building blocks, system builders can focus their investments on software and services to develop integrated solutions faster. With this unique breadth of products, including a variety of processors, boards, chassis, server management software, RAID, and network access components, solution providers and integrators can deliver competitive technology to meet their customers' enterprise demands.
