Ford wins CEI's ExtremeSim award

Ford Motor Co. has been selected by CEI as winner of its 2006 ExtremeSim award for outstanding use of advanced simulation technologies in the automotive industry. CEI is a leading supplier of engineering simulation solutions, including Harpoon meshing and EnSight visualization software. “In its divisions throughout the world, Ford Motor Co. is using extreme meshing and visualization solutions to see and interact with product designs in new and exciting ways,” says Kent Misegades, CEI president. “CEI is proud to be a part of Ford’s innovative work.” Examples of Ford engineers using CEI products for advanced simulation include: Anders Jonson, Volvo Car Corp. Fluid Dynamics Center – Animations of complex airflow problems integral to automotive design and engineering. Paul Yu, Ford Powertrain – Meshing and visualization for design engineering of engine components. Bob Thacker, Ford Powertrain – Automation of mode shape analysis animations for automotive NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) studies. Scott Morton, Ford Powertrain – Animations of airbag structural analysis results. Dr. Burkhardt Hupertz, Ford Germany – Pioneering work in automated processes for performing complex CFD simulation and animation. Dr. Steven Pierson, Jaguar Powertrain – Visualization of fuel sloshing, transient in-cylinder flow models, and cooling jackets. Dr. Warren Seeley, Ford UK – Automated processes for analyzing piston model CFD studies.
