Foundry Networks, a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced that research firm Dell'Oro Group ranked Foundry as the #1 market share leader in the fast-growing 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10-GbE) Layer 3 market for the 4th quarter of 2004 and for the full year 2004. Dell'Oro's research placed Foundry as the leader in this market sector with a 34.5% share of port shipments and a 38.8% share of revenue. "Foundry has maintained our leadership in 10-Gigabit Ethernet since the market's inception in 2001, and we continue to drive the price/performance curve with the most diverse, feature-rich and affordable 10-GbE solutions on the market," said Bobby Johnson, Foundry's president and CEO. Last month, Foundry announced the new SuperX family of Layer 2/3 compact modular switches which offers the industry's highest 10-GbE density per rack, the lowest 10-GbE price-per-port in a modular switch, wire-speed throughput and forwarding on every port, and a compact form factor that allows installation of up to eight systems per 7-foot rack.
