SAS Announces Scientific Pilot Collaboration with Bristol-Myers Squibb

SAS, the leader in business intelligence, today announced that Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE:BMY) has selected three components of the SAS Scientific Discovery Solutions platform in a three-month pilot project targeted at improving scientific collaboration and streamlining research processes. Biostatisticians and scientists at Bristol-Myers Squibb plan to use SAS Microarray Solution and SAS Research Data Management to co-develop rigorous statistical methods for analyzing their gene expression research data without requiring significant development time. Scientists are also planning to analyze mass spectrometry-based research data with SAS Proteomics Solution, a new offering that will be available in 2004. SAS Microarray Solution, SAS Proteomics Solution and SAS Research Data Management are components of the SAS Scientific Discovery Solutions platform, which establishes an analysis management system that centralizes discovery research data and establishes a framework for creating, accessing and disseminating quality analyses integral for research success. "SAS has a flexible, customizable platform for building sound analyses that enable both analysts and scientists to facilitate innovation, streamline research processes and improve the consistency of their research results," said Kecia Serwin, general manager of SAS' Life Sciences Organization.
