TotalView Technologies partners with European HPC software reseller

SciWorks Technologies to distribute TotalView products to higher education market in Europe: TotalView Technologies, a provider of dynamic analysis and debugging tools for serial and parallel codes, today announced that it has partnered with European HPC software reseller SciWorks Technologies to market TotalView and MemoryScape to educational institutions in Europe. SciWorks will act as an authorized sales agent of TotalView Technologies' products for the education market in Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland and the United Kingdom. SciWorks will also provide training for commercial users across multiple markets on the continent. Based in Paris, France, SciWorks Technologies resells advanced HPC software solutions to European universities and offers training and consulting services to users across a variety of industries that utilize HPC. SciWorks also provides product demonstrations and start-up assistance to higher education institutions that adopt the products it currently represents. “We have eagerly anticipated adding TotalView and MemoryScape to our HPC product portfolio,” said Jim Pioche, president of SciWorks Technologies. “Both products are being adopted rapidly throughout the educational research community in the United States and Europe, and we are looking forward to making TotalView available to even more institutions over a wide range of countries.” TotalView is a comprehensive source code analysis and memory error detection tool that dramatically enhances developer productivity by simplifying the process of debugging parallel, data-intensive, multi-process, multi-threaded or network-distributed applications. Built to handle the complexities of the world’s most demanding applications, it is capable of scaling from one to thousands of processes or threads with applications distributed over multiple machines or processors. The new TotalView 8.5 release provides users with the ability to debug applications that take advantage of the Cell Broadband Engine architecture, and delivers enhanced IBM BlueGene/P support, additional platform updates and support for new compilers/operating systems. MemoryScape is a graphical, interactive memory analysis tool that helps developers, build engineers, and QA testers identify, inspect and resolve difficult memory problems in C, C++ and FORTRAN, including complex multi-process and multi-threaded programs. Designed to be an integrated part of the software development process, MemoryScape enables developers to monitor heap memory, view memory usage, locate memory leaks, track memory events and show corrupted memory, while an application is running. Developers can also save and compare memory states and compile sophisticated memory reports. MemoryScape is non-intrusive, so developers can find memory problems without recompiling, and without waiting all day for even the smallest test to run. “SciWorks will provide TotalView Technologies’ customers with an easily accessible training resource in Europe,” said Jim Chafel, vice president of business development at TotalView Technologies. “We recognize the growing importance of HPC and parallel programming to the advanced research and modeling efforts being undertaken by many of the world’s top universities, and we are pleased to have the chance to offer our products, along with demos and the necessary support, to these scientists as efficiently as possible.”
