SC08 Analytics Challenge

Showcase Your HPC Expertise in Solving Real-World Problems: Interested in solving complex real-world problems by using your skills in high performance computing? Then make sure you apply for the SC08 Analytics Challenge by July 31, 2008. The Analytics Challenge is being held in conjunction with SC08, the international conference of high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis to be held Nov. 15-21 in Austin, Texas. In its fourth year, the Analytics Challenge provides a forum for researchers and industry representatives to present complete solutions that embody all facets of high performance computing, such as comprehensive computational approaches, processing of large data sets, and high-end visualization technology to display results. The Challenge is open to everyone except those directly associated with the Analytics Challenge Peer Review Committee. Submissions from a wide variety of disciplines are encouraged. Past finalists have presented solutions in orthodontics, traffic control, atomic energy, geophysics, and music classification, among others. Applications for the Analytics Challenge should address: • Innovative and sophisticated analysis and visualization techniques • Performance and scalability with large, complex data sets • Portability and distribute-ability • Flexibility and deploy-ability • Knowledge and discovery A complete solution summary, including results, must be submitted by the end of July. The entry form and summary (in PDF format) should be uploaded to the SC-Submissions web site. For further details, go to sc08.supercomputing.org/?pg=challenges.html, or e-mail analytics-challenge@info.supercomputing.org. Finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges in August 2008 and will be invited to present their submissions at SC08. The overall winner will be announced at the SC08 Awards Ceremony in Austin, Texas.
