SAN JOSE, Calif. -- ClusterWorld Conference & Expo, the world's premier event on clustered solutions in commercial, research and academic computing, today announced the keynote speaker line-up for the inaugural conference taking place June 23 through 26 at the San Jose Convention Center in California. Executives from Celera, DaimlerChrysler, IBM and Shell will share insights about how they are leveraging cluster technology in their organizations around the world. "We're delighted to have four international leaders in the genetics, automobile, information technology and oil and gas industries delivering keynote addresses to show attendees how clustering technology can provide solutions to their business and technical challenges," said Adam Goodman, CEO of QuarterPower Media, publisher of Linux Magazine and producer of ClusterWorld Conference & Expo. John Picklo, Manager for High Performance Computing at DaimlerChrysler, will kick off the event with an opening keynote address Tuesday, June 24 at 9 a.m. Picklo is responsible for systems software and hardware for all of the engineering mainframes and supercomputers at the Chrysler Group. He is a 25-year IT veteran who has designed and managed systems for computer-aided design at DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Nissan and Toyota. Jacobus N. Buur, Principal Research Physicist at Shell International Exploration and Production, will deliver a keynote on Tuesday, June 25 at 9 a.m. Buur manages research in subsurface imaging and exploration for Royal Dutch/Shell. A major contributor to developing key visualization technologies, he was a pioneer in adopting clusters in the petroleum industry with some of the first installations of large-scale Linux clusters. John Reynders, Vice President, Informatics at Celera Therapeutics, presents a keynote address on Tuesday, June 25 at 2:30 p.m. Reynders oversees computational sciences, algorithms, software engineering, computer science and knowledge management initiatives supporting drug discovery and development for Celera Therapeutics. At Celera Genomics, he previously served as Vice President for Information Systems overseeing supercomputing, discovery software engineering and enterprise system infrastructure. Prior to Celera he worked at Sun Microsystems and before that at Los Alamos National Laboratory where he managed the largest unclassified super computer in the United States. Tilak Agerwala, Vice President, Systems, IBM Research, delivers a keynote address on Thursday, June 26 at 9 a.m. Agerwala directs development on next-generation hardware and software technologies for embedded systems, servers and supercomputers for IBM. Noted for his key role in jointly developing the architectural foundation for the RS/6000, Agerwala was responsible for the systems architecture and technology strategy of the RS/6000 SP, the most successful parallel computer of all time. He received the W. Wallace McDowell Award from IEEE in 1998 for outstanding contributions to the development of high performance computers.
