(www.active-base.com) has announced two new database add-on products that highly improve Database Management System (DBMS) availability and performance – ActiveBalance and ActivePool. ActiveBalance automatically keeps the load balanced between all servers of multi-node/replicated Oracle databases. Within one minute it automatically re-balances the load between all database servers, after failure or recovery of a node of Real Application Cluster (RAC), Parallel Server and Symmetric Replication Servers. “ActiveBalance monitors failed nodes or replications, detects their recovery, and then gradually re-routes active connections to the recovered server and restores the balance within one minute, instead of hours, while eliminating risk of recurrent failure," said Yoram Nissenboim, ActiveBase's Chairman The second product announced by ActiveBase is ActivePool, a tool that automatically speeds up Oracle database application performance, reduces DBMS CPU load, improves its response time and increases database server's capacity. “ActivePool was easily installed on our database server and provided immediate results that dramatically reduced the CPU load," said Isaac Nahay, IT Infrastructure Manager at Golden Pages Publications Ltd. “Many vendors told us their solutions could improve performance immediately, without any customization. However, ActiveBase was the only one who did it. Without any change in our applications, the daily frequent high CPU load disappeared, saving hardware upgrades". Installed as a software package on the database server or on an appliance near the database, ActivePool manages all connections and provides central pooling to the database servers, saving CPU and memory resources. It improves MTS (Multi-Threaded Server) and non-MTS configurations and works with all database configurations and applications. Both products are based on ActiveBase’s Database Network Router technology that monitors, manages, pools, prioritizes and accelerates database request traffic. Both new products are installed transparently, in less than 10 minutes, keeping all applications and configurations intact.
