QLogic Unveils End-to-End HPC Networking at Supercomputing 2006

Company Showcasing InfiniPath Host Channel Adapters, SilverStorm Switches and Interoperability with Popular Applications, MPI Stacks and, InfiniBand Storage: QLogic, the only end-to-end provider of host adapters to switched fabrics for storage and high-performance computing (HPC) networks, unveiled its new portfolio of InfiniPath Host Channel Adapters (HCAs) and SilverStorm switches. QLogic will showcase the products and pervasive interoperability with popular applications, along with Message Passing Interface (MPI) Stacks and InfiniBand Storage at the Supercomputing 2006 International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis, taking place November 11-17 in Tampa, Florida. "The recent acquisition of SilverStorm allows QLogic to provide end-to-end products and expertise needed by the largest HPC networks," said Scott Metcalf, vice president and general manager of the Systems Interconnect Group, QLogic. "At SC06, InfiniPath adapters, SilverStorm switches, and management software will all be showcased alongside the products of our partners to demonstrate the pervasive interoperability we’ve already achieved.” QLogic at SC06: Product Showcase • The QLogic Network Platform – For datacenter administrators interested in deploying common infrastructure to save time and money, the QLogic Network Platform includes a comprehensive family of highly interoperable host adapters, switches, intelligent routers and management software for high-performance InfiniBand, Ethernet, iSCSI and Fibre Channel Networks. • InfiniPath HCAs – A full line of InfiniBand HCAs delivering 10x messaging rates. InfiniPath HCAs are the performance leaders for cluster interconnect and are available for servers with Hyper Transport and PCI-Express slots. • SilverStorm Switches – A full line of InfiniBand single and double data rate-switching fabrics, including modular directors and virtual I/O gateways to 10 GbE and Fibre Channel. QLogic at SC06: Interoperability Showcase • OpenMPI – QLogic is demonstrating support for high-performance MPI stacks including new releases of OpenMPI, HP-MPI, Scali MPI, the Intel MPI Library, and QLogic MPICH software on view at its booth. • InfiniBand Storage – LSI Logic Corporation provides its Engenio storage device, by which QLogic can demonstrate direct connectivity to storage devices by means of InfiniBand-based SRP protocols using the industry standard OpenFabrics OFED1.1 software release. • OpenFabrics – The Fluent demo (running at the Intel exhibit and using the Intel MPI stack) shows how QLogic enables customers of open fabric vendors to interoperate without needing vendor-specific software. • Optical and Copper QSFP Cabling – Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable (QSFP) technology increases port density and lowers cost—letting people use many different technologies to connect their InfiniBand systems with a pluggable form factor. QLogic will work with Zarlink Corporation to demonstrate an innovative optical QFFP cable; and with Molex Corporation, to demonstrate copper cabling. • InfiniBand Routers – Obsidian Research and QLogic will demonstrate an InfiniBand router—a highly desirable way to manage and move data among subnets in a network. Common in Ethernet technology, routers are only now emerging in InfiniBand networks.
