University of Lund Selects Extreme Networks
The University of Lund, Sweden's largest research and higher education facility, has selected Extreme Networks to deliver its new high performance network backbone. The university is undergoing a large-scale network upgrade that will enhance its delivery of applications and multimedia while increasing network reliability. Extreme Networks will deliver a network based on its BlackDiamond® 10K switches featuring 10 Gigabit speeds and an innovative modular operating system, ExtremeWare XOS. The solution provides increased levels of availability that are now required to support services for more than 40,000 students and 6,000 employees. Students increasingly integrate network and computing functionality into their daily work and now will be better equipped for powerful applications, communications and Internet access to enrich their studies. The university will deploy IP telephony that benefit from traffic prioritization and high availability of the network. Added reliance on networked applications at the University of Lund also furthers the need for advanced Quality of Service (QoS) and network availability found with Extreme Networks' award-winning networking solutions. "Extreme Networks is delivering an advanced campus network to University of Lund that addresses convergence with improved availability at 10 Gigabit speeds," said Suresh Gopalakrishnan, vice president of worldwide marketing for Extreme Networks. "This is an outstanding example of the many benefits provided by Extreme Networks to research and education networks. We look forward to working with the University of Lund."
