Royal Plaza on Scotts Hotel Enhances Guest Security With Aruba's Virtual Branch Networking Solution

Aruba Networks has announced that Singapore's prestigious five-star business hotel, Royal Plaza on Scotts has deployed a Virtual Branch Networking (VBN) solution to provide secure access across all 511 guest and conference rooms. The rooms are equipped with RAP-2 Remote Access Points which deliver authenticated wired and Wi-Fi access and offer unparalleled control over services and security.

Royal Plaza on Scotts hotel has been awarded Asia Pacific's "Best Independent Hotel" by TTG Asia Travel Awards for the past three years. Given its stature and the prominence of the guests who stay at the facility, the hotel sought to provide its guests with highly reliable and highly secure Internet access far beyond what is typically found in the hospitality industry.

The hotel's legacy Wi-Fi network was in need of replacement. After carefully weighing its options, the hotel invited Aruba and three other vendors to propose a wireless network upgrade.

"Aruba's upgrade proposal was unique because of its combination of high performance and high security," said Tan Beng Guat, IT Manager of Royal Plaza on Scotts. "Given the sophistication of the technology Aruba brought to bear, it was surprising that theirs was also the least complex implementation. Our guests enjoy robust network connections throughout the guest rooms, and with Aruba's firewall and enterprise-class security measures protecting the integrity of the network at all times they are also assured the utmost in privacy."

VBN technology uses Aruba's Mobility Controllers in the data center to handle all configuration, management, and security tasks. Centralizing these services in the controllers simplifies the design and installation of the RAP-2 Remote Access Points, enabling them to deliver enterprise-class performance at an exceptionally competitive price.

"The world's best hotels are constantly seeking ways to improve the experience of their guests, and our solutions play a significant role in that process," said Albert Tay, Aruba's Country Manager for ASEAN. "Our networks offer a differentiated user experience, one characterized by effortless network access protected by unobtrusive but ever-vigilant network security. It's a competitive advantage that users notice and highly value."
