SingTel Deploys Juniper Networks EX4200 Switches for Carrier Ethernet Services

Juniper Networks announced that Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel), a communications group based in Asia Pacific, is using Juniper's high-availability Ethernet switching solutions to support its customers' Carrier Ethernet requirements.

SingTel has deployed Juniper Networks EX4200 Ethernet Switches, which run the Junos operating system, at points-of-presence (POP) across the region.

SingTel is the service provider of choice for the quality of its MEF-certified Carrier Ethernet suite which includes international services such as ConnectPlus Ethernet Line (E-Line), ConnectPlus Ethernet Virtual Private Network (E-VPN), ConnectPlus Ethernet Virtual Private Line (E-VPL) and local services such as MetroEthernet and Meg@POP suite of Ethernet services including E-VPN and E-VPL.

"SingTel works with top-tier industry vendors, such as Juniper Networks, to ensure customers enjoy scalability and reliability for their mission-critical applications," said Goh Boon Huat, Head of Business Products at SingTel. "Through our suite of Carrier Ethernet services, we are committed to providing solutions of the highest quality that guarantee outstanding service between countries, regions and continents."

SingTel continues to grow and innovate its Carrier Ethernet services, not only in global coverage, but also to meet customers' demand for features such as Jumbo Ethernet frame support. To accomplish this, Juniper's Virtual Chassis fabric technology on the EX4200 switches can enable up to 10 interconnected switches to operate as a single, logical device, allowing for increased capacity with reduced complexity.

Juniper Networks EX Series Ethernet Switches leverage much of the same field-proven Juniper Networks technology, including application-specific integrated circuits, system architecture and Junos OS, that power service provider networks. The pay-as-you-grow architecture of the EX4200 switches with Virtual Chassis fabric technology provides lower power consumption, space and associated cooling requirements.

"Juniper's EX4200 Ethernet Switches allow SingTel to scale its Carrier Ethernet services without overwhelming complexity and loss of performance," said Andy Ingram, VP of product marketing and business development, Fabric and Switching Technologies, Juniper Networks. "In addition to enabling SingTel to remain in compliance with the most stringent service-level agreements, Juniper's high-performance networking increases the speed and lowers the cost of application and service deployment."

In addition to deploying the Junos OS across the EX switches, SingTel also deploys Juniper Networks M Series Multiservice Edge Routers in its POPs.
