Arista Networks, together with their pan-European partner, Consolidate IT, today announced product endorsements from customers and solution providers across Europe. The Arista 7100 series is a best-of-breed 1 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switching solution for data centers and cloud networking environments. Common underlying themes of the product endorsements include low latency, server virtualization enablement through 10GbE and layer 2/3 switching.

10 Gigabit Ethernet offers a compelling improvement in end-to-end latency. For HPC applications and financial trading environments, low latency is critical. Not only does 10 GbE reduce the packet transmit time by a factor of 10X, but 10 GbE switches also typically offer an order of magnitude lower latency than 1 GbE switches which is key for latency sensitive applications.

Growth in server virtualization across Europe is continuing to drive the need for more bandwidth as it inherently requires more overall network utilization. In order to take full advantage of virtualized environments at performance levels that customers require, 10GbE is more often viewed as a viable solution.

In addition to enabling virtualization, the Arista 7100 Series is one of the few 1RU 10 GbE switches in the marketplace today to support hardware based Layer 2/3 switching.
