Monarch Empro Goes Dual-Core

From their headquarters in Tucker, GA, Monarch Computer announced today the addition of the new Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors to the Monarch Empro line of servers and workstations. Systems based on this new product will offer customers an excellent value and superior performance. Monarch Empro servers and workstations come in one, two, and four processor configurations, meaning that customers can now purchase Empro systems with one to eight CPU cores. Dual-Core AMD Opteron performs on average 75 percent better than Intel Xeon MP on certain enterprise applications, while using 30 percent less power per CPU. Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors will open up entirely new possibilities in high-performance computing. Customers who thought they would be priced out of moving to an eight-way server due to cost constraints can now consider these systems. With the help of AMD, Monarch computer is easing the computing industry's move into an entirely new cost paradigm. "What AMD has done with the Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor is incredible," said Trey Harris, founder of Monarch Computer. "Not only can we now offer 4P/8-core systems in a 2U form factor, but we can also offer many of our existing Empro customers an easy upgrade path to double the number of CPU cores in their existing systems." "As an AMD Platinum Solutions Provider, Monarch Computer offers the highest quality components in their servers and workstations and that now includes the Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor," said Pat Patla, director, Server/Workstation Marketing, AMD. "Incorporating AMD64 dual-core technology into the Monarch Empro servers and workstations means they are extremely reliable, without sacrificing performance, and can run multithreaded applications with even more efficiency. Monarch's customers can quickly and easily see remarkable performance gains on their HPC applications." Monarch's dual-core servers feature high-density RAID arrays larger than four terabytes with Adaptec and 3-Ware RAID controllers, and hard drives from Western Digital, Maxtor, and Hitachi. Monarch two-processor AMD Opteron processor-based servers support up to 16 GB of DDR memory, while the four- processor Empro servers support up to 32GB of DDR memory. Monarch Empro dual- core workstations support up to four monitors using up to two PCI-E video cards from NVidia and ATI. New Empro workstations support from 512 MB up to 16 GB of DDR memory and storage options from 40GB to over 1 TB. According to Trey, "Nobody puts the time and effort we do into building each server and workstation. Every power cable is tucked neatly out of the way, every ribbon cable folded and tied to reduce its effect on airflow, and every last thing is checked by an experienced quality control professional. With the new Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor, your new Monarch Empro will not only be a work of art, it will be a serious performer as well."
