CONCORD, Mass. - Queensland University of Technology (QUT), the largest supplier of graduates to Australia's design engineering workforce, has purchased 300 seats of SolidWorks(r) 3D mechanical design software for use in several departments and disciplines. Students in the School of Built Environment & Industrial Design and the School of Mechanical Manufacturing & Medical Engineering will use SolidWorks in undergraduate and postgraduate design and product development classes. "We chose SolidWorks as one of our engineering software education tools for its short learning curve and 3D capabilities, which make students fully aware of design and manufacturing intent from the start," said Dr. Mahalinga Iyer, senior lecturer in the school. "It also simplifies modifications so students can work efficiently." QUT is one of Australia's largest universities, enrolling 30,000 students. It is one of the largest providers of graduates into full-time employment in Australia each year, and its graduate employment rate easily surpasses the national average for Australian universities.
